Gastro-licious

SO much good food. We typically inhaled it so quickly that I wasn't able to take many pictures. Tasty, fresh and cheap. One of the highlights of visiting Hanoi was definitely the food. I already miss having Pho Bo and baguettes for breakfast.

Soup, vegetables, and rice. I don't know how they make it so delicious.

Egg Coffee. Sweet and strong. Well balanced.

Snake wine. Fermented for 5 years. I had one shot of this and the restaurant worker said that I will be a "strong man" for 5 days.

  2. Hey Diane! Happy New Year!!!

Legend says that an old Vietnamese bartender who was working at a 5-star hotel in Hanoi ran out of milk to serve with his coffee. So he improvised and used egg yolk instead. Now it's pretty popular all over Hanoi.

We went to Giang Cafe which is supposedly the original "Hanoi Egg Coffee". It was pretty tasty. Similar to a Vietnamese drip coffee in the US but thicker and sweeter.
