Got Umbrella?

I think January has the best weather here in Manila. The humidity is down, the temperature down, and not much rain. But still I have become like many of the Filipinos here when I go outside. I bring an umbrella. It actually serves two purposes: to shield from an unexpected rain storm as well as from the tropical sun. Being in the shade seems to make a huge difference here. Even on a street corner, you'll see people lined up along the shadow of a street light even if it's just for a brief moment. Drivers will stop their cars short of a red light if there is shade 10 meters behind the crosswalk. Although I've been known as a "sun worshipper" in my youthful days, I think I am acting more like an albino lately.
