EDSA Revolution Day

Today is a holiday for the kids but unfortunately Grace is open for business. 1986 was not that long ago (or is that because I'm getting old now?). And I do remember the name of President Marcos being in the world news. EDSA Revolution (aka People Power Revolution) was a series of protests that involved over 2 million Filipino citizens. The purpose of the demonstrations was to protest against regime violence and electoral fraud. Most of the demonstrations took place on one of the main streets here in Manila called the Epifanio de los Santos Avenue (or EDSA for short). The end result was the fleeing of President Marcos and the inauguration of Corazon Aquino as the new president (the first female president of the Philippines and also the first female president of an Asian country).
