Sumulong Baptist Church

Got to spend the morning with about 70 children from SBC which is located in Antipolo City an hour outside of Manila. This area is up in the mountains and much greener than the surrounding cities. Probably most well known for the cashews that are grown here. As I walked down to the church along the steep muddy road I felt like I was coming to a place where most people (especially foreigners) would never visit. Not because it was especially dirty or dangerous. Just a very normal looking village in a rural area outside of the craziness of the city. As I got closer to the church building one little boy came running up behind me. He was probably 3 years old. He started speaking to me in Tagalog and held out his hand. I shook his hand and before we released our handshake he touched my hand to his forehead. Quite the welcome. Then he quickly raced up the stairs into the church building. He knew visitors were coming. There is something very uplifting and hopeful about meeting these children in their house of worship. I am learning. Children are children. Happy. Resilient. Smiling. Innocent. Content. I am reminded that this is what it is like to have child-like faith.
