Typhoon Luis (aka Kalmaegi) is rolling through Luzon (the main island where Manila is located) today. Winds are reported to be at 150 kph. Our windows have been howling all day today but it seems like it'll just be rainy and windy without any significant damage in our area. In fact, I can see a few crazy people on the golf course as we speak. I guess it's easier to feel safe inside a solid apartment building. I'm sure there are thousands of people across many towns (especially along the east coast) that are being evacuated. I can't help but to think about the countless villages that are living under sheet metal shacks with nothing really holding them up. Hoping for good reports over the next couple of days.
