Manny vs Floyd

Standing room only at the clubhouse of our condo. A couple hundred residents and staff gathered for the fight. The nation's pride and joy in the ring. In many ways Manny is the epitome of the Philippines - often the undersized, overlooked, underdog... But full of energy, fight, and pride. Typical David and Goliath scenario. I'm not a boxing fan but I appreciate Paquiao's reputation here as someone who has not forgotten his roots - giving generously to the poor and under-privileged in his home country. The fight was mildly entertaining. It's insane to think that the two fighters will split $300 million 60/40 in favor of Floyd. I've always been skeptical about the legitimacy of judging in boxing - this fight did nothing to change my opinion. I'm sure Manny will be welcomed back with open arms. He'll have some extra time (and money) to focus on basketball, acting, and politics.

After the fight quote worth mentioning:

"I'm so glad that daddy is safe... so glad that he only has a little scratch on his face and not that big. It's okay if daddy loses or not. Basta lang ("Only that") he tried his best to serve the Lord."

- Queenie (6-year old daughter of Pacquiao)
