August has been a very light month in terms of blogging. I think it's a combination of being busier (spending lots more time at school) and finding less novel things to write about? One thing that I am starting to prepare for is the "talk"with Chase. I ordered this on Amazon and started reviewing the parent's manual. It's written by Dennis and Barbara Rainey. The material is designed to help talk to your preteen about issues such as puberty, dating, and sex. It's formatted so that you go away for the  weekend with your child. This will give the two of us a chance to do something fun like camping or go to a beach house as well as dedicate time to go through the material. Whoa... So far, I'm feeling a bit excited, anxious, and unequipped all at the same time. There is a parent manual that I've got to tackle first. One of the pages has a list of 26 things to start praying for your preteen. Here are two that I had to read twice (with a big *gulp* in my throat):

- Pray that you will catch your preteen when they sin in order to have opportunities for training and correction.

- Pray that if your preteen is lying to you, God will allow you to catch him or her in that lie. Pray also that God will give your preteen the courage to follow through with restitution and repentance.

On one hand, the task seems daunting. But on the other, if Chase is gonna learn about the birds and the bees and all the issues surrounding the opposite sex, I'd rather have the opportunity to teach him myself than for him to learn from his peers or from social media. There are a couple of 3-day weekends in September and October so I've got quite a few things I need to figure out in the next few weeks. Hands together and looking for some divine inspiration!
