We spent the day on the GBR. Pretty much a dream come true. We booked a tour on the Calypso which takes off from Port Douglas and sails about 90 minutes before stopping for some snorkeling. Throughout the day there we got to snorkel at three different places along the reef. Definitely the most impressive coral I've ever seen. Hard to describe the colors and shapes that you see underwater. Just amazing. Straight out of National Geographic. From the surface you actually don't really see much of anything. You can sort of tell that the water is more shallow because of the lighter color. But as soon as you get a glance under the water you are mesmerized by the coral. Even grandma got to enjoy getting in the water. Thankfully no one got sea sick (the water seemed calm all day) and no one got stung by a jellyfish (this is the time of year that you gotta be careful). Really blessed to be able to experience this trip.
